This sweater is perfect for those fall months when it’s cold, but not too cold. Once again, this is modeled by my gorgeous sister, Monica. Combine any colors that suit your personality. The free pattern is down below!
Beginner: knowledge of basic knit (garter stitch) and purl stitch, casting
on and binding off. Also, some sewing with joining the squares
Yarn: any combination of 4+ colors in light worsted.
Needles: set of 2 4.0 mm knitting needles and set of 4 5.0 mm double
pointed knitting needles.
Extra: yarn needle, scissors, embroidery needle.
Body: length 17”, chest circumference 34”
Knitting: 4 inches – 16 sts and 40 rows.
2×2 rib: knit 2, purl 2
Squares (make 50)
Using 4 mm needles cast on 22 sts. Slipping 1st st of each row, garter
st for 32 rows. Bind off, fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.
Arrange squares according to display and sew together. Before
assembly, sew one side of sleeves to the opposite side. Then sew
sides of front of body to the back (starting at bottom square first), stop
at the end of second square to shape armhole. Sew sleeves to body.
Using 5 mm double-pointed needles pick up 44 sts along end of each
sleeve. 2×2 rib for 14 rows. Bind off, fasten off.
Using 5 mm double-pointed needles pick up 120 sts along bottom of
sweater. 2×2 rib for 20 rows. Bind off, fasten off.
Again with 5 mm double-pointed needles pick up 60 sts along neck
portion. 2×2 rib for 6 rows. Bind off, fasten off.
Weave in all ends.
